You can use LBA mode (logical block addressing) to define the addressing. All modern hard disks support this mode.

In LBA mode you don't have to worry about numbers of sectors, cylinder or heads. So the raw image will still be usefull.

Hi all, these two tools zsplit/unzsplit are not very inteligent you are right, but the advantage of these tools is independence from the file system. And even more you can always be sure that your backup-image is recoverable. Device-Image project is not only these two tools, they are only a beginnin...

You can try this tool, no problem with splitted chunks, also for very large files (200 Gb tested) :-)
