The start of the Windows boot loader is hardcoded in the 1st boot sector. But that start sector is specified using CHS, not LBA so it is disk specific. And the Windows boot sector needs to be updated. If you need something that works, you can try your backup with the LRS demo vmware image : http://w...

Hi !
No, Ghost can only backup ext2/3. If you need a "Ghost Enterprise" like tool which works for everything (ext/reiser/xfs/lvm1/2), you should try the Linbox Rescue Server: http://lrs.linbox.org

Cheers,
Ludovic.

I found a new tool that promises to support LVM and RAID out of the box (though its FS support is limited) http://www.trickytools.com/php/clonesys.php But don't forget the LRS is GPLed, and just works with LVM1/2 :) No need to script anything ! You can even build a bootable restoration DVD from you...

Hi !
For non-experimental NTFS backup, you should try the LRS http://linbox.com. (Remember that the GPL edition of the LRS, http://lrs.linbox.org ) does not have NTFS support.
Cheers,
Ludo.

There's a new NTFS driver for Linux, with full write support (ntfs-3g). You should check if the latest Sysrecue does not support it.

Salut !

Essaye le LRS: http://lrs.linbox.org
Y'a rien à taper, et ça marche pour XFS, Reiser, LVM, etc.

A+

Hi !
You can try the LRS :D http://lrs.linbox.org
You can create bootable CD/DVD of Linux disk images, even when LVM is used (Redhat/Suse/etc).

Cheers,

Ludo.

Hello, That's normal: if you disk geometry changes, then Windows cannot boot anymore. There are very few tools which can fix the boot record after a restoration: Windows tools like Ghost, or the Linbox Rescue Server (fix just released). http://www.linbox.com/ or http://lrs.linbox.org/ for the GPLed ...
