Write image to same partion as backing up?

Post by VantageTech » Mon Nov 23, 2009 7:10 pm

Is it possible to to write the image to the same partition as you are trying to back up?

Example: Backing up sda1 and write that backup image file to /backup within the sda1 drive? Or do you have to write the image file to an entirely different partition?

Thanks

No, you must backup to a different partition.

I successfully created an image backup of an NTFS boot partion (sda1) on a another partition (sda2) using a System Rescue CD, but cannot find clear instructions for restoring it. Anyone have a magic key to the commands and syntax to use. preferrably with an example?
