I need to install PCs for a charity in africa in a place (Kayes in Mali) where there is no service.

they are double boot W2K/Linux. these PCs do not have CD drive.

I would like in case of problems that from lilo or grub the person could restart on a recover mode starting a small linux that would reinstall W2K and Linux form images.

is partimage on a small system (few megs) that could be installed on a partition that could be use as a recovery system

did anyone already done it ?

HD will be I hope 40-80 Go. we start an adoption campain for new HD (adopt a PC for 50 €)

there would be a C drive for W2K
/ swap and /home
a partition for the images and the rescue system

more info concerning the action on (sorry it is in french only)

thanks in advance

If not CD where?

If the PC do not have CD-ROM drives ... where will the saved partition image be stored? On a server? How will it be shared? NFS? Windows Share?
What NICs will this mini-distribution be required to support?

Actually I think you would have to use an extra partition for the /boot of the osrecover-mini-linux-distro
