How can I install the Partition Image from "Static Bina

Post by ysh » Thu Dec 29, 2005 6:25 am

I purchased "Static i386 Binary tar ball" of the Partition Image from this site.
Then I unpacked this tar ball and got 2 executable files, "partimage" & "partimaged".
But I have no idea to install these files.
The documents tell me that run "make install" to install, but I understand this is the way for installation from source files.
Please tell me how I can install these binary executable files.

I understood by myself

My understanding:
partimage is an executable for standalone use.
partimaged is for network use.
They aren't related each other. Therefore, the only thing to do to install them, is to store these files to a directory which is in PATH. :D

you already unpacked it, all you have to do is to run them to get it working.

partimaged is run on the server, if u want to send the file across the network

partimage is run on the machine that you are backing up or restoring to.

you need both for network use.

try typing this:

./partimaged
./partimage
