./configure doesn't work

Post by steinpfeffer » Fri Jan 05, 2007 2:03 pm

Hello!

I run opensuse 10.1 on my PC and want to install PartImage 0.6.5.
When I try ./configure, I get following message:

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
maxdata:/opt/partimage-0.6.5 # ./configure
checking build system type... Invalid configuration `i686-pc-linux-': machine `i686-pc-linux' not recognized
configure: error: /bin/sh ./config.sub i686-pc-linux- failed
maxdata:/opt/partimage-0.6.5 #
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Could you please tell me what the problem is and how I could solve it?

Thank you in advance

Best regards

I'm getting the exact same error when trying to configure under RHEL4.

Here's my command and output.

./configure --prefix=/opt/partimage
checking build system type... Invalid configuration `i686-pc-linux-': machine `i686-pc-linux' not recognized
configure: error: /bin/sh ./config.sub i686-pc-linux- failed

If anyone has any clue as to what's causing this, please, let me know!!!

Thanks in advance...

Steinpfeffer,

Try using the following config, or something similar to fix your distro.

./configure --prefix=/opt/partimage --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu
