it seems like Software Raid/LVM is and will not be available in the future.
However, I am wondering if the following would work to at least backup.restore RAID1 partitions that do not use LVM on top:
Assuming that the RAID1 filesystem is properly synchronized and unmounted, could I use fdisk to change the partition type flag to regular ext3, then take the image and afterwards change the type back to software raid?
And for the restore, just restore the ext3 partition back to the drive, and use fdisk to change its type to software raid?
If you have a question about a file system (for example xfs, reiserfs, ...)
