When creating the image of the partition, you are given the choice of compressing the partiton file. My uncompressed image is 4.7 GB and the compressed (.gz) image of the same partition is 2.1 GB. I restored the 4.7 GB image which took 1:32 and in the process of testing it.
I would like to know if the 2.1 GB file has any informatio loss. Maybe it can be decompressed and validated against the 4.7GB file (MD5Sum?).
If anyone out there has had success using the .gz compression on their image, please post your experience and results.
