Commande line switch for Automatic Split

Post by mrechte » Sat Jan 02, 2010 12:38 pm

I have not found the command line equivalent switch to the "Automatic Split (when no space left)" GUI save operation.

Thanks for your help.

As you probably already know, get CL help by:

Code: Select all

partimage --help
-V, --volume (split image into multiple volumes files)
-VX, --volume=X create volumes with a size of X MB
I use "--volume=X" where "X" is a number of bytes larger than the biggest image I need to create. That way, in my case, I will always get single image files (never split). I noticed that without any "V" option, I would sometimes get auto splitting, so perhaps "split when out of space" is the default behavior. You might have to experiment with this.

However when using the CL, wouldn't you either want a single file, or multiple files of a fixed size? If you run out of space, you will have to intervene, and in that case you might as well use the GUI.

Good luck,
