Use Partimage with FreeNAS

Postby wfveennl » Mon Mar 31, 2008 7:17 am

Hello,

I am trying to use Partimage to make an image to my FreeNAS Pc.

In this Pc there are two drives mounted with the names SAN and ASUS. When I need to access these drive from Windows I have to use the following share name:
e.g. \\192.168.1.1\asus or \\192.168.1.1\san.

When I try to connect to one of these shares using Partimage to write an image, I can't make an connection.

Doe anybody have an idea how I can do this?

Same Problem

Postby EchoLynx » Sat Oct 25, 2008 12:13 am

I am having the same problem. I am using the following commands:

mount -t smbfs //192.168.0.222/BackupDrive/Ian/driveimages/sda/ /mnt/samba1

and get the following errors:

Password:
6092: tree connect failed: ERRDOS - ERRnosuchshare (You specified an invalid share name)
SMB connection failed

I don't know of any password, and have no idea what I am doing wrong.

Solution?

I have figured out how to get PartImage on the SysRescCD to work with FreeNAS over CIFS-

1. Enable CIFS on the server.
2. Set up an account, password optional. (You could use the 'ftp' user which if enabled by default will give you guest privileges.)
3. mkdir /mnt/bup
4. mount -t cifs //%servername%/directory /mnt/bup -o ip=%serverip%,user=%user%,pass=%pass%
(No spaces between options, only a comma.)
5. Use partimage as you normally would. If you want to backup a file to the directory specified in the above command, simply enter /mnt/bup/filename in the filename field of partimage.

Hope this helps.
Ian
