Like "pagefile.sys", "hiberfile.sys", "/recycled", "/recycler", "/temp", etc.

Excluding pagefile.sys and hiberfile.sys makes lots of sense because those are typicaly very large and contains a lot of random data (bad for compression). Being able to disable the backup/restore of those files would speedup the process. Until partimage supports exclusion list you can manualy delete those file by mounting R/W your Windows partition. Windows will not complain about those files missing and will create them silently.

I don't think this is going to happen because partimage do not know anything about file directories and is OS independent.

Suggestion: for several reasons you might creating a seperate partition for pagefile
