Hi there,

Here is my case :
I boot on a systemrescuecd
My disc contains this partition table :
/dev/hda1 * 0+ 456 457- 3670821 83 Linux
/dev/hda2 457 9728 9272 74477340 f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5 457+ 488 32- 257008+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/hda6 489+ 9728 9240- 74220268+ 83 Linux

I mount the /dev/hda6 :
mkdir /mnt/hda6
mount /dev/hda6 /mnt/hda6

and create a folder in it :
mkdir /mnt/hda6/partimage

I go in that folder and makes an image :
cd /mnt/hda6/partimage
partimage -z1 -b save /dev/hda1 hda1.partimage.gz

the processus goes fine and i check with
partimage imginfo hda1.partimagz.gz.000

If i do the same check again and again, the first tries goes fine
partimage imginfo hda1.partimage.gz.000
partimage imginfo hda1.partimage.gz.000
partimage imginfo hda1.partimage.gz.000

After some tries, i've got the "can't read block 0" error.

I've check the md5sum of the image just after making it and when the error occurs and the md5 is the same !

The , when I try to restore the partition from the image, it works well but I can't restore the mbr from it, i've got the same error message "can't read block 0"
